Stirling Castle (Castle Wynd, Stirling) – located an hour northwest of Edinburgh, Stirling Castle is a great symbol of Scottish independence and a source of national pride. Knights, nobles and foreign ambassadors once flocked to the Royal Court at Stirling Castle to revel in the castle’s grandeur. In addition, several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned here (including Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1542). This site is currently managed by Historic Scotland. Admission: £14 (adult), £11 (seniors, unemployed), £7.50 (children 5-15 years). Free for children under 5 years.
