Saperavi Café

Saperavi Café (1-ya Tverskaya-Yamskaya, 27, Moscow) – this is something different for visitors: cuisine from the former Russian republic of Georgia. Dishes here range from tender pork roasted with potatoes, tomatoes and onions; to lamb stewed in tkemali, white wine and tarragon; Grilled trout stuffed with hazelnut paste and spices; real kharcho with stewed beef in a spiced hazelnut sauce and chvishtari; and chkmer-style chicken (boneless chicken in garlic & cream sauce).

Saperavi also serves various meat kebabs, soups, salads, and (from their bakery) something called Ajarski Khachapuri (boat-shaped bread filled with cheese and an egg). Desserts there range from ajarian baklava to pelamushi (traditional Georgian dessert with Isabella grape juice and cornmeal, similar to a sweet pudding — served with walnuts).
