Metro (local train) (St. Petersburg)

Metro (local train) (St. Petersburg): St. Petersburg’s metro existed since 1955. Nowadays it has 5 lines and 67 stations, with this mode of public transport still growing. St. Petersburg’s metro is one of the deepest in the world (50-75 meters; the deepest station, “Admiralteyskaya”, is 86 meters under the surface). Like the Metro in Moscow, St. Petersburg’s metro is not only a mean of transport but is also considered a landmark. Many stations, transfers and halls are decorated with marble, granite, mosaic, wrought iron decorations and paintings. The stations “Mayakovskaya”, “Avtovo”, “Dostoyevskaya” and “Admiralteyskaya” are particularly remarkable.

Hours are from 6 am to 12 midnight daily. Metro ticket is 28 Rubles. Metal tokens are used for single rides; you may purchase them in ticket offices or vending machines at the station halls.
